Why your tour title matters so much

On marketplaces, the first things a traveler sees are the title and the cover photo. The title directly affects whether people click your tour in search results and which queries you show up for in the platform's own search.

A good title answers the traveler's question in one line: where, what will I do, and what makes this tour different?

The parts of a good title

  • Place: Travelers search with place names like "Istanbul", "Cappadocia" or "Rome". The destination should always be in the title.
  • Activity: Use the phrase people search for, such as "boat tour", "balloon ride" or "food tour".
  • Differentiator: Details like duration, small group, private tour, guide, transfer included or sunset raise click-through.
  • Readability: All caps, exclamation marks and excessive punctuation don't build trust; write it like a natural sentence.

What the checker looks at

  • Length of 40–90 characters: Very short titles say too little, very long ones get cut off on mobile. This range is a guideline; platform limits may differ.
  • Destination and activity: Do the place and activity you entered appear in the title?
  • Differentiator: Is there a number (duration, group size) or a phrase like "small group", "private" or "transfer"?
  • Caps and punctuation: Are there all-caps words, exclamation marks or "..."?

Example

Weak: AMAZING ISTANBUL TOUR!!!Strong: Istanbul: Bosphorus Sunset Cruise, Small Group with Guide

The second title gives the place, the activity and two differentiators in one line; the traveler knows what to expect before clicking.

Mind the platform rules

Platforms like GetYourGuide and Viator have their own content rules for titles; for example, prices, discount wording or heavy use of capitals may not be accepted. Check the current guidelines in your supplier portal before changing a title.

This tool covers the basics; the real test is your data. After changing a title, watch click-through and conversion for a few weeks.
